Something With Numbers
Engineering The Soul
Something With Numbers first appeared on the charts with their catchy single ‘Stay With Me Bright Eyes’. This is the new album from the band which features many more great songs. The lead vocalist Jake Grigg has such a unique voice that makes each song what it is with the accompaniment of the four other band members. Not to mention the old style guitar and drum sounds. The versatile sound of the group is amazing, as you jump track to track. Each song has its own meaning and specific lyrics to accompany it, whether it’s the mellow track ‘89 Freedom Street’ or the upbeat track ‘This Will Be The Last Time.’ They have also released another single ‘We’ll Fight’ which features the likes of the Dap Kings. The album was produced in America as the boys wanted to work with New York producer Tim O’Heir. Even the album artwork hints at what’s to come with its quirky mixed pictures. There is also a bonus DVD that comes with the album that features the ‘Stay With Me Bright Eyes’ film clip and behind the scenes footage. As well as three more video clips from their old works ‘Apple of The Eye (Lay Me Down)’, ‘Chase The Chaser’ and ‘Goodbye Mickey Finn’ which prove to be great entertainment. ‘Engineering The Soul’ is just another slice of great Australian music that has been produced. With one track already on the ARIA charts hopefully the rest will follow with such success. The album is so impressive and makes an impact on anyone who listens to it. With any luck we won’t have to wait too long for their next album.
