  BUTTAH
Australian Hip Hop

What to expect

Born from an artist and son of a cabinet maker, Buttah has alwayshad a tendency to do things differently. He grew up in Cooktown, NorthQueensland and has had a flair for performing from a very young age. It was inHigh School that this 'boy from the bush' was exposed to Hip-Hop via the radioand first began to experiment with lyrics himself. Ultimately he found a form of self expressionthat had no rules and no boundaries. Atthat time, nobody making Hip-Hop music that, in his opinion truly spoke withthe pain, passion and the power that we as a nation with our relatively shortyet bloody history, have at our disposal.

Soon after this he and three friends (The Vexed-Versa, Marvel and Rydakule)drew wisdom from the stars and formed an alliance which quickly came to beknown as The Solemn Prophets. All burning with the same fiery determinationButtah possesses, The Solemn Prophets have stood the test of time and enduredthe four year separation of each artist after leaving their small home town.

The concept for 'The Storyteller LP' first burnt a spark into a young Buttah'smind when he moved to Townsville to study Theatre in 2003 and the many weirdand wonderful experiences he has been through since then has formed thecontent, torn the project from the realms of space and brought it into reality.

'Be Useful, Truthful, Thoughtful And Happy.'

Buttah.
